The Frankenstein Film Series begins at 7pm on March 31st at the Dorothy Menker Theater on the Moraine Valley campus. This film is free of charge and open to the public.

Frankenstein Opening Reception March 30th, 6:30pm

The Frankenstein opening reception will be held Tuesday, March 30th at 6:30pm. We are looking forward to the unveiling of the exhibit and the University of Chicago’s Robyn Schiffman’s lecture “Frankenstein and the Landscape of Letters.” This event is open to the public.

From Frankenstein to Frog Steaks (from Wired.com): Scientists are finding ways to create hybrids between organic organisms and inorganic compounds. This calls up many of the questions posed by Mary Shelley in Frankenstein. Here is a piece of the article: “But as researchers continue to explore ways that tiny bits of living tissue can be harnessed to generate nano-engineered products, others are questioning the ways in which they’re blurring the line between organic and inorganic. What is life? Do we have the right to re-engineer it? What are the risks? “

The library still has around a dozen copies of the novel Frankenstein available for checkout. Get your copy while you still can. The bookstore (in the D building) still has copies available for purchase at a very reasonable price.
