The Navy Goes Green

The Harvard Business Review posted this blog post, “The Navy Strike on Energy Use, yesterday. It talks about the Navy’s efforts to get half of its energy from alternative sources. It lists the following points:

  1. Connect green to your core mission and strategy.
  2. Then connect green to cost savings.
  3. Set aggressive goals.
  4. Help your employees do their jobs. (example: using solar power instead of batteries makes jobs easier for troops)
  5. Ignore the naysayers.
  6. Use pilot programs.
  7. Use data to drive buy-in and execution.
