Today the movers arrived to pack up the circulating collection. It’s a little sad to say good bye to such a large amount of our resources, but we are excited to remodel our space and improve our facility. Check out the photos:

Empty Shelves!

It’s going to be tight quarters around the library as the first floor is closed. Today, we moved our technical services staff upstairs. Check out these photos:

Movers will arrive on May 20th to move the library’s Technical Services Department from their longtime home on the first floor of the library to their new temporary home on the second floor of the library. Library staff members are in the process packing up materials in anticipation of the move.

Althought the actual construction will not begin until the middle of June, 2004. The movers will arrive and start preparing the first floor May 24, 2004. The downstairs of the library (including a majority of the circulating collection) will not be available after this date.

In preparation for the upcoming renovation, the Library?s automated systems server and other central hardware will be moved from the area on Thursday, May 20. Access to the online catalog will not be available, and although you will be able to access the Library?s full-text databases while on campus, access to these databases from off campus will not be available. The project is scheduled to take two days, and access to the online catalog should be available at the start of the three-week summer pre-session. If you see library student aides working hard to “squeeze” reference materials to the front half of the reference shelves, it’s because we are getting ready for the remodeling of the first floor of the library. A “special” collection of books and audio visual materials will be housed in the back half of the reference area. This will be home for approximately 1,000 items requested by faculty to be pulled from the Circulating collection on the first floor before everything is packed up and stored during remodeling.
