One Book, One College: The Autobiography of Malcolm X

The Moraine Valley Library and Moraine Valley Bookstore are happy to announce that Alex Haley’s novel, the Autobiography of Malcolm X has been chosen as the 2007-2008 text for the One Book, One College program. Silence is Loud Discussion Held in the Library

The Library hosted the panel discussion Silence is Loud today. This event was sponsored by Moraine Valley’s GLOW (gay, lesbian, or whatever) Student group. An audio recording of this event is available on our Library Events Podcast page (no iPod needed).

Authors Display and Art Dedication Held in the Library

Today the library honored staff and faculty authors and artists at the Annual Authors’ Display and Recpetion. This year was a special year, because the library also honored Lynn Peters whose Goodyear Project is permanently installed in the library. This artwork was made possible by a generous grant made by Professor Janice Hill-Matula.

Perceptions of Mental Illness in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month

The Behavioral Science and Psychology club at Moraine Valley Community College is sponsoring a panel discussion regarding the perception of mental illness in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month. Specific topics include myths and stigmas, as well as diagnoses and treatment. Our expert and professional panel will share their experience and perspective, and are available to field audience questions.
