Yes, it’s true. We sell votes at the Library. They only cost $.25 a vote or 5 votes for $1.00. In this economy, that’s a good price.

No, these are not votes for the November 4th presidential election. These are votes for the 8th Annual Pumpkin Contest. The voting is underway, and the competition is CRAY-ZEE!

Food For Fines in the Library

During the Library’s 19th annual Food for Fines event, Nov. 3-21, students can donate canned or boxed nonperishable food items in lieu of paying a fine from an overdue item. (Reserve, lost, or collection items are excluded from the promotion). Faculty, staff, and students also are encouraged to donate food or cash at the circulation desk in the Library. Food and donations collected will be distributed to the Zone 32 Food Pantry through the help of Bill Droel. For more information, call Barb Rys at x5467.

Library Wins Best Practices Award

The Moraine Valley Library is very proud to announce that our staff members led by Leslie Warren, Barb Rys, and Lee Semmerling have received the Best Practices in Libraries Award from the Metropolitan Library System.  This award was given in recognition for the annual Information Literacy Summit, which brings together librarians in all types of libraries to discuss teaching research skills.  For eight years, our library has organized the summit at Moraine Valley and the two other sister summits that are held in Central and and Southern Illinois. Alice Calabrese and Janet Kellenson pictured with Leslie Warren, receiveing the Best Practices in a Library Award for Moraine Valley Community College. 

Library Closed November 1

Due to a network upgrade, the library will be closed on November 1, 2008.  The entire L Building will be closed.

The Cycle of Stuff Podcast

Today, the library hosted the second event in our One Book, One College program on Garbage Land. Today’s event was a panel discussion entitled the Cycle of Stuff: How the Things We Consume Impact our World. This event can be downloaded three ways:
