Moraine Valley Library hosts World War II author

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

Moraine Valley Community College will welcome James G. Bilder for a discussion of his book A Foot Soldier for Patton: The Story of a “Red Diamond” Infantryman with the U.S. Third Army. The free event will be on Thursday, March 19, from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Library, second floor of Building L, 9000 W. College Pkwy., Palos Hills.

A Foot Soldier for Patton is a frank account of the life of an average soldier that follows the Third Army from Normandy to the conquest of Germany. Bilder co-authored the book with his father, Michael Bilder, who was a rifleman, interrogator, and a combat lifeguard in one of the most famous infantry regiments in U.S. history. It shows readers the “true” history of World War II in ways that textbooks cannot.
