MVConnect Portal Unavailable

Access to MVConnect (http://mvconnect.morainevalley.edu) is currently unreliable. IT Operations is troubleshooting the problem and we hope to have it corrected soon. Blackboard access remains unaffected.

Campus Network Outage on November 12th

On Saturday, November 12th, 2011 the network operations department will be performing maintenance on the network. As a result, all services will be unavailable between 4:00 p.m. until approximately 10:00 p.m. The interruption of service includes blackboard, MVConnect, and the library resources. We apologize for the inconvenience. An announcement will be available on the portal when services are available. Thank you.

System Maintenance 8/6/11

Blackboard Unplanned Restart

The Blackboard system encountered a scripting error at approximately 10:37 a.m. today rendering the service unavailable to faculty and students. After a quick restart of the servers, the system was returned to full functionality at 10:48 a.m. We regret any inconvenience this may have caused.

Deletion of Fall 2008 Blackboard Courses

REMINDER – It is the campus policy to delete Blackboard courses after seven semesters. Courses from the Fall 2008 semester will be deleted as soon as May 23, 2011. Only courses that include “2008FALL” in the course name will be deleted. Please note: organization, e-portfolio, workshop, and DEV sites will not be impacted.

Replace FrontPage… please!

As most of you that maintain web content know, FrontPage has been discontinued and is no longer supported by Microsoft. MVCC staff and faculty that have not yet replaced FrontPage can request that SharePoint (SP) Designer be installed by User Support, or download it themselves. SP Designer is a free install for employees and functions very much like FrontPage.

SP Designer’s features, functionality and usability are remarkably similar to those of FrontPage, so we do not anticipate any difficulties with its adoption. If needed or desired, tutorials are available from lynda.com. Simply sign up for free access using Training Manager and learn at your own pace. If you need assistance setting it up, please call WebTech at extension 5554.

Moraine Valley has canceled classes—on and off-campus—starting at 3 p.m. today. The College will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 2.
