Starting in 2007, Daylight Savings Time (DST) start and end dates will change as a result the Energy Policy Act of 2005, which was intended to combat the country’s growing energy problems. The list below highlights the changes for this year.
- DST will start on the Second Sunday of March (Mar 11, 2007), previously the First Sunday of April (Apr 1, 2007)
- DST will end on the First Sunday of November (Nov 4, 2007), previously the Last Sunday of October (Oct 28, 2007)
What this means for computers is that a software update may be required for the time change to occur on the new day. Updates to our web servers (including Blackboard) will be applied over the next two weeks and should not create any disruption to our web services. However, if we discover that an update may cause a system outage, we will notify the associated customer base via email as well as this blog prior to applying the update.
