IT Service Interruption on Saturday

Most IT services (including Blackboard) will be unavailable throughout campus Saturday, Oct. 24, from 4 p.m.-midnight, as a result of equipment testing. Phone service will not be available in Building L during this time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Internet may be slow Thursday morning

From 12:01 to 12:30 a.m. Thursday the primary Internet provider will perform maintenance on its equipment that will cause us to move to our backup connection. You may experience slower than normal connectivity during this time period.

Maintenance Results

Bb was off-line August 5-7 in order to perform some needed preventative maintenance and software updates to the environment. In addition to applying a needed hot fix and an upgrade to Java, we were able to bring the system down and make some configuration changes to strengthen the fail-over capabilities of the application servers.

During the testing phase once the changes were applied, we were able to login to Bb and cycle the power for each of the two servers, all without being logged off of the system. Bottom line, the likelihood of our students or faculty getting bumped off of the system because of a (single) server issue is greatly reduced.

Thanks to our Bb faculty for allowing us to interrupt your prep time for the Fall session in order to make our system better.

Possible Interruption from 7-10 p.m. on 8/14

Some critical technology troubleshooting for the new UPS/Generator that must occur before fall classes begin will take place on Friday, from approximately 7- 10 p.m. There is a small chance this work will cause some technology services to be shut down for short periods of time. We apologize for any inconvenience this work may cause.

Partial Campus Power Outage

The campus experienced a loss of commercial power this morning just before 8:00 am. As a result, both Blackboard systems (version 6.3 and version 8) as well as our primary internet web server were brought down. A backup web server (in another building) is currently online and better reflects the status of the power outage, you can check it (at www.morainevalley.edu) for more timely updates as they happen.

Once ComEd has restored power to the campus and we are confident of its stablity and reliability, the systems will be brought back online as quickly as possible.

Bb Restart 6/20

A restart of the Blackboard environment is planned for this Friday morning (June 20^th) during the morning maintenance window.

This restart is to follow up after the Monday evening incident.

Bb Unavailable 6/16

We wanted to confirm that Blackboard did have periods of unavailability last night (Monday, June 16^th) from approximately 9pm until after 10pm.

The problem affected the storage servers that contain documents such as those attached for download or in the digital drop box so some students may report that they could neither download or upload files to Blackboard last night.

Every effort was made to reduce the amount of impact and to restore availability as quickly as possible.

A restart of the environment may likely be planned in the next few days during a maintenance window to follow up after this incident; we will notify you prior to the restart so you and your students may plan for it.

We apologize for any interruption.
